SENT By Land & By Sea

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

How then will they call on him whom they have not believed?

And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?

And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

And how are they to preach unless they are sent?

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

~Romans 10:13-15

Do you consider yourself SENT?!

Has Jesus sent you to be the beautiful feet who bring his good news?!

For me, Jesus has made this mission clear.

He moved my family and me here to Huntington Beach for the purpose of planting a church.

We were literally sent out by Compass Bible Church in Orange County, CA with the goal of seeing Jesus build his church here in the north part of our county.

At that time, we had a core team of 50 people who would come over to our house every Saturday night to pray.  There were right around 125 of us who transferred from one Compass Bible Church to another.  Our early services were gatherings of a little over 200 souls.

We bought an ice cream truck to go out into the neighborhoods.  We handed out free ice cream and invited people to church.  We believed we would see Jesus save souls!

SENTThree years later, our mission has not changed.  In fact, the only difference is there are more of us who consider ourselves sent by Jesus.  We recently kicked off our fourth year as a church by studying Isaiah 6.  We saw his vision of the glory of God.  We felt his conviction for his sin.  We watched as the seraphim brought a burning coal with tongs from the altar to give him atonement. And then we heard God say:

Whom shall I send,

And who will go for us?”

Then I said, “Here I am!

Send me.” ~Isaiah 6:8

As more of us pray this prayer, God is opening doors for more salvation conversations.  He is using us to share the good news of Jesus in our daily lives.  People are telling their classmates.  They are talking to their neighbors and co-workers.  Pedicures are now opportunities for not only beautiful feet, but for the gospel to go forth!

God is drawing more people to come to our church, and more importantly, he is drawing them to Jesus Christ.  Our Core Team is around 90.  Our services average over 900.  The last two mornings I have begun my day with text message praise reports of another soul who has repented of their sins and put their faith in Jesus to be saved!  Did you hear what I just said? Souls are being saved!

On Labor Day, we called for laborers to go out with the Ice Cream truck and to spread the good news of Jesus.  Over 170 people were SENT out, that’s more than the amount of people we had to start the church!  IMG_1035

Saturday September 9th ushers in a new era of evangelism for us as we introduce the Ice Cream Boat!  There are some neighborhoods in our community we have not been able to go to because they are surrounded by gates.  Well, if we are blocked by land then we will bring the gospel by sea.  Nothing will stop our Lord Jesus from building his church!

If you consider yourself SENT and want to go out with us, we meet at the church on Saturday mornings for evangelism training at 9:00 AM!  We go out together for ice cream evangelism (this Saturday by both truck and boat) at 10:00 AM!  As Jesus has done from the first day of our church until now: LET THE GOSPEL RING OUT!

Leave a comment if you are ready to pray: “Here I am!  Send me.”

  1. Praise the Lord for the work He has done here at Compass HB! So encouraging to read how faithful God has been! But this is just the start! Praying for the REVIVAL to spread like wildfire all throughout North Orange County as we continue our mission that Jesus gave us!

  2. Here I am! Send me! So grateful for the work God is doing through Compass Bible Church! He saved me about a year and a half ago, and He used the clear preaching of the Word and patient loving believers at Compass HB to do it!! Praying that God would save even more souls and would bring a much-needed revival!
